Do you watch sports? I love to watch football (soccer) and I am not one of those who leaves the ground early to beat the traffic rush. I want to be there to ensure that I am absolutely sure whether my team has won or not. It could be that they score a couple of goals at the end and snatch victory from the jaws of victory.

What if all the team walked off after 80 minutes as they were 0-2 down? Who would know what would have happened in the last 10 minutes. Maybe an opposition defender makes a rash challenge and is sent off and this opens the door to my team?

We have this in life too. Particularly in our working lives. We start a task and do not stick at it to the end and we never really know the outcome. We could have started down a path that may have startling revelations for us and our company. But because we decided not to completely follow through the previous hours of hard work are lost.

It maybe that just one little element is missing that prevents you from achieving great success. You really have to keep plugging away for the full 90 minutes (to return to football for a moment) and see your project through to its logical conclusion.

Even if that doesn’t work there will be a new challenge along soon, just as there will be another football match next week.

Keep on keeping on….until the fat lady sings!!!
