A great quote from Ernest Hemingway and to achieve in life you really need to make tasks fun. Hemingway liked to have fun in his way and maybe his ideas (hunting and heavy drinking) we may not agree with. However they worked for him.

What can you do in your working life to make it more fun? Probably not heavy drinking and hunting the boss or the mail boy, now there’s a clue.

However, the more fun you inject into your working life the more you can achieve.

Got a boring task to do? Make a game of it. Make a list of the boring tasks and start to cross them off. I then regard this as a game to be finished. Filing, no problem, I just write a list out and imagine the filing tray empty and the nice neat files in the cupboard where I can easily find things.

Visualise the outcome too. Think about the end result and you will see this as a fun way to go to achieve this end goal. Even something as seemingly dull as filing.

And don’t let that person in the office say something like “we need to be serious now”, challenge this with “Why?” I find that if I am too serious and things are not fun I do not achieve so much. See how you can burst this bubble. Think of fun, new innovative ways to get ahead in life, to achieve.

Keep away from the booze and the shotgun but think of other ways you can achieve in your working life to really turbo charge your way to massive achievements.
